RE: Modern Times(1936)
Modern Times directed, edited, produced, written, casted, and scored by Charlie Chaplin in 1936 was the last appearance of Chaplin's "Little Tramp" character. Although during this period many companies began producing "talkie" films, Modern Times was among the last silent movies. The film incorporates a scene at the beginning which correlates sheep to factory workers. This metaphor Chaplin inducts was among the many ironies visible throughout his film. Speculating over the periods this movie was published in, that is, the Great Depression, Chaplin shows the reality in a perspective many cannot fathom. As upsetting these times were, it was not in Charlie Chaplin's motive to depict it the way everyone perceived reality, He showed dramatic irony to illustrate real individuals could use some help. Truly, Charlie Chaplin was a man to put a smile on the faces of many and a new idea on others.
